RESOURCE WEEK
DAY 1 (26th November 2024)
The inaugural day of Resource Week kicked off with a burst of energy and excitement during an invigorating aerobics session. Led by Teachers Prosper, Alex, Eziborn, and Kente, the session set a vibrant tone for the activities ahead.
Faith took center stage as students and staff united in prayer, dedicating the day to God and seeking His blessings.
The morning spotlight featured a series of transformative talks on Career Choices, Mental Health, Security Basics, ICT (cybercrime and phone use), and Public Health.
A dynamic team from Mbogo Professional Consultancy delivered an innovative and thought-provoking session. Using the powerful symbolism of burning candles, volunteers were invited to be “lights of the world,” spreading positive change and banishing negative vices. This reflective exercise inspired students to openly list and renounce bad habits.
The “50 Lions of Immaculate Heart” Old Girls captivated the audience with stories of their successful careers. Their achievements inspired students, sparking aspirations and leaving them eager for more.
Practical sessions followed as students moved to the basketball court for hands-on demonstrations. Dressed in vibrant attire, they joyfully used basketballs to reinforce key messages from the morning talks.
In the afternoon, Dr. Dickson led a profound session on “Healthy Relationships, Boundaries, and Self-Respect.” His topics ranged from combating drug use to promoting proper nutrition, medication, and restful living. The session resonated deeply with the students.
Later in the day, Security Basics became the focus. Key topics included:
- Rights and Privileges
- Emergency Handling
- Treatment of Strangers
- Self-Security
- Fire Safety (causes, types, prevention, and the fire brigade’s role)
Students actively participated in practical fire-extinguishing demonstrations, mastering techniques for handling different fire types. Their enthusiasm showcased a strong desire to learn from the security experts.
As the day drew to a close, the Entertainment Department treated students to an engaging and educational movie. By 10 PM, students retired to their cozy divans, filled with gratitude for a well-spent day.
Special appreciation was extended to Sister Kachope Gladyce, Sister Sabina, Teacher Begura Richard, Teacher Prosper, and the dedicated student leaders for orchestrating such a memorable start to Resource Week.
